I have been sewing as long as I can remember, first making Barbie dresses, then my clothes and clothes
for my family. I also learned to knit. crochet, embroider and do needlepoint. Not unlike many people I'm
sure!

My first paying job was with a mens' clothing store doing their alterations in my home while my two
daughters were small. Then after experiencing a couple of other jobs for several years (in banking and finance),
I decided to go back to sewing as a career. I worked for Parisian Specialty Department store as an area alterations
manager for many years, right up to the day the doors on the store were locked. That is when I decided to
open my own shop, get out of the frenetic retail setting, and be my own boss. Actually it was my husband, Howard's
incessant encouraging that brought me to this point, and I am very grateful to him!

Using amazing or novelty fabrics to make ordinary garments is my favorite way to sew.
- Make a Christening gown out of your wedding dress.
- Remake a bridesmaid dress as a wearable cocktail dress or a great skirt
- Use your old jeans to make a pieced quilt.
- Favorite t-shirts into pillows
- Cummerbunds/bow ties made from unusual fabrics are certainly eye catching,
- And don't forget our Elvis collection!
